Some may say that this movie is terrible because it is like watching children kill each other but I think it is much more than that. There are many underlying themes and lessons that can be learned from this movie and that is why I enjoyed this movie so much. It helped me get a different perspective on a couple of things.
One of my absolute favorite quotes from this movie is given by Peeta, while he is talking to Katniss the night before they entered the games. He said, “I just keep wishing I could think of a way to show them that they don’t own me. If I am gonna die, I wanna still be me.” That struck a cord with me and got me thinking about daily life and there are so many things that people do to please others and to conform to the norms. But why should we do this? I want to feel comfortable being myself and not have to worry about what other people think. I think it is important that we fight for who we are and what we stand for. No one can make choices for our self but us. We have the power to be the person that we want to be.
I truly enjoyed the messages and inspiration that came with this movie when I watched it. This movie was more than children going after each other. It is one of my absolute favorite movies. I won’t spoil the ending for anyone who hasn’t read the book or seen the movie but the ending is epic and now has me waiting on my toes for Catching Fire, the second movie of the series! I did love this movie and I think I want to see it again, but I was wondering has anyone read the book and is it better than the movie and worth reading?
@Maddie I loved the book. I read the book before I saw the movie. I am not much of a reader at all but my friend convinced me so give this one a try! I am so glad she did cause it was so good. I was hooked and couldn’t put it down. I think I enjoyed the book and movie almost equally which doesn’t happen much!
