Mommy Bear’s Opinion – I love this movie! It is a cute romance story about two people who meet online and fall in love but don’t realize they like each other in real life at first till their worlds come together. It is very charming and I could watch this film over and over again.

Summary -  The stars (Tom Hanks, Meg Ryan) and director (Nora Ephron) of Sleepless In Seattle reteamed for this charming audience favorite. Greg Kinnear, Parker Posey, Jean Stapleton and more great co stars add note perfect support to this cinematic love letter in which superstore book chain magnate Hanks and cozy children’s bookshop owner Ryan are anonymous email cyberpals who fall head over laptops in love, unaware they are combative business rivals.

#9 – Sleepless in Seattle

Grade: B

Mommy Bear’s Opinion – If you like chick flicks this is a must see! It has a great plot and is a very cute romance. It is fun to watch the story unfold. I love the ending of this movie it is great!

Summary – Tom Hanks stars as Sam Baldwin, a widowed father who, thanks to the wiles of his worried son, becomes a reluctant guest on a radio call-in show. He’s an instant hit with thousands of female listeners, who deluge his Seattle home with letters of comfort. Meanwhile, inspired in equal parts by Sam’s story and by classic Hollywood romance, writer Annie Reed (Meg Ryan) becomes convinced that it’s her destiny to meet Sam. There are just two problems: Annie’s engaged to someone else, and Sam doesn’t know – yet – that they’re made for each other.

#8 – Cast Away

Grade: B

Mommy Bear’s Opinion – You know someone is a good actor when they can get you to cry over losing a volleyball. I think Tom Hanks did an excellent job in this movie! However,  I personally think this is a movie you only need to see once, but my husband and brother-in-law strongly disagree. They love this movie and watch it often.

Summary – When a FedEx systems engineer (Hanks) survives a harrowing plan crash to only become stranded on a remote island, he soon discovers that his own personal journey has only just begun.

#7 – Big

Grade: B+

Mommy Bear’s Opinion – I think this movie is clever in the way it portrays the overall message. That we should enjoy life as it goes and not to wish your life away. I really liked this message. I also found the movie funny and playful.

Summary – At a carnival, young Josh Baskin (Hanks) wishes he was big, only to awake the next morning and discover he is! With the help of his friend Billy, Josh lands a job at a toy company. But the more he experiences being an adult, the more Josh longs for the simple joys of childhood.

#6 – A League of Their Own

Grade: B

Mommy Bear’s Opinion – This movie is funny and entertaining to watch. I always like a good movie that promotes equal rights for girls! It has some content that you probably would not to show younger children including some swearing and a little bit of drinking. It is a good movie if you are looking for something comical and fun.

Summary – Hanks stars as Jimmy Dugan, a washed-up ball player whose big league days are over. Hired to coach in the All-American Girls Baseball League of 1943 – while the male pros are at war – Dugan finds himself drawn back into the game by the heart and heroics of his “all-girl” team. Jon Lovitz adds a scene-stealing cameo as the sarcastic scout who recruits Dottie Hanson (Davis), the “baseball dolly” with a Babe Ruth swing. Teammates Madonna, Lori Petty and Rosie O’Donnell round out the roster, taking the team to the World Series. Based on the true story of the pioneering women who blazed the trail for generations of athletes, A LEAGUE OF THEIR OWN is “a home run.”

#5 – Catch Me if You Can

Grade: A-

Mommy Bear’s Opinion – This movie is also based off a true story, which I think is great. It is full of action and adventure. How can you go wrong when you have Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hanks in the same movie? The acting is great and is a brilliant combination. They capture the audience effortlessly!

Summary – An FBI agent (Hanks) tracks down and catches a young con artist (DiCaprio) who successfully impersonated an airline pilot, doctor, assistant attorney general and history professor, cashing more than $2.5 million in fraudulent checks in 26 countries.

#4 – Apollo 13

Grade: A-

Mommy Bear’s Opinion – This is a great movie that is based off a true story. It shares lots of information that is accurate and interesting to learn. I like how it keeps you on your toes wondering what will happen next. I think it is has great context and the actors do an awesome job as well. Everyone should see this movie at least once.

Summary – It had been less than a year since man first walked on the moon, but as far as the American public was concerned, Apollo 13 was just another “routine” space flight- until these words pierced the immense void of space: “Houston, we have a problem.”
Stranded 205,000 miles from Earth in a crippled spacecraft, astronauts Jim Lovell, Fred Haise and Jack Swigert fight a desperate battle to survive. Meanwhile, at Mission Control, astronaut Ken Mattingly, flight director Gene Kranz and a heroic ground crew race against time-and the odds- to bring them home.

#3 – Toy Story 2

Grade: A-

Mommy Bear’s Opinion – This movie is just as good as the first one. It adds some awesome twists and turns and introduces you to a whole new group of characters that make the show entertaining and different than the first one. This movie is great!

Summary – Andy heads off to cowboy camp leaving his toys to their own devices. Things shift into high gear when an obsessive toy collector named Al McWhiggin (owner of Al’s Toy Barn) kidnaps Woody. At Al’s apartment, Woody discovers that he is a highly valued collectible from a 1950s TV show called Woody’s Roundup, and he meets the other prized toys from that show, Jessie the Cowgirl, Bullseye the Horse, and Stinky Pete the Prospector. Back at the scene of the crime, Buzz Lightyear and the other toys from Andy’s room, Mr. Potato Head, Slinky Dog, Rex and Hamm spring into action to rescue their pal from winding up as a museum piece. The toys get into one predicament after another in their daring race to get Woody before Andy returns.

#2 – Toy Story

Grade: A-

Mommy Bear’s Opinion – This original classic Toy Story movie is my favorite! It is such a clever and cute idea for a movie. The film is so well done and very carefully planned out, everything goes together wonderfully for a fun and playful movie.

Summary – In this 3D computer animated feature, a pull-string cowboy doll is the leader of the toys until the latest, greatest action figure enters the picture. When the toy rivals are separated from their owner, they ultimately learn to put aside their differences and work as a team to get back home to the boy they love.

#1 – Toy Story 3

Grade: A-

Mommy Bear’s Opinion – This was not my favorite of the Toy Story’s but I know several friends who like this one a lot. Tim Allen and Tom Hanks do a excellent job with the characters Buzz and Woody.  For being a 3rd movie in a set this is a great movie.

Summary – As Andy prepares to deport for college, Woody, Buzz, Jessie and the rest of Andy’s faithful toys wonder what will become of them. But when a mix-up lands them at Sunnyside Daycare, they meet a host of new toys and soon discover a wild new adventure is just beginning!
