I was first captivated by this movie when I was 13 years old. Like Anne - spelled with an "e" - who met her best friend, Diana, after being brought to live at Green Gables, my life-long best friend and I met because of this movie when her family moved to our town. This collection follows an orphaned girl, played brilliantly by Megan Follows, from mid-childhood into adulthood. It is brimming with colorful characters and a cast who are timeless that all ages can enjoy. Anne's journey is peppered with triumphs, heartbreak, adventure, love, despair, romance and determination. The movies were filmed mostly on Prince Edward Island and have forever captured breathtaking scenery that is as much an integral part of the films as the people. This is a perfect long weekend marathon selection or a great film to watch as a mini-series (as it was originally broadcast) to prolong the enjoyment. Even though now we are both grown, have families of our own and live several hours away from each other, my best friend and I still talk about this movie and hope to see it again together. So for all of you who have a best friend, buy this collection, grab a box of tissues, order a pizza and enjoy! |
